Day #5: Where Did You Go to School?
I spent all of my school-age years in Hawaii and went to Creative Day Preschool, Kahakai Elementary School, Kealakehe Intermediate School, Konawaena High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
I loved school (science and math were my least favorite subjects) and I made good grades. For many of those years I was involved in student council, various clubs and on the tennis team (ever serving as captain of the team, my senior year). During college I worked and enjoyed hanging out with my Alpha Gamma Delta sorority sisters. Before he passed away my dad often encouraged me to pursue an MBA, but by then I needed a break. Once I started working, I realized how much more I’ve learned about business on-the-job, and even started my own business consulting and providing administrative assistance to various vendors in the wedding industry, in Hawaii. I love that my education provided the head knowledge, but working provided the street knowledge, and I think you need both to be successful.
