Day #6: What Do You Read? As a kid, I absolutely loved to read. My dad would take me to the library on the weekends and I would come home with books from the Nancy Drew and The Babysitter's Club series. As I got older I loved anything by Tom Clancy or John Grisham. Then when I started college, my love for reading waned as I was stuck reading textbooks, and quite honestly I think it ruined me for years after. After my husband went into the ministry I felt the need to read Christian ... View Post

100 Days Project: Where Did You Go to School?
Day #5: Where Did You Go to School? I spent all of my school-age years in Hawaii and went to Creative Day Preschool, Kahakai Elementary School, Kealakehe Intermediate School, Konawaena High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I loved school (science and math were my least favorite subjects) and I made good grades. For many of those years I was involved in student council, various clubs and on the tennis team (ever serving as captain of the team, my senior year). During ... View Post
100 Days Project: Where Do You Live?
Day #4: Where Do You Live? As a military family we move quite often but currently we've been assigned Fort Benning in Columbus, GA. We've been living on-post (for the first time) for a whopping 4 months and are loving it! Roland truly enjoys his work and the kids are in a terrific school. Every afternoon the neighborhood kids are knocking on our door to play and there have been times when Roland hasn't gone off base in a week! *** I'm participating in the #100daysproject by using ... 100 Days Project: What Hobbies Do You Enjoy?
Day #3: What Hobbies Do You Enjoy? Since moving to Georgia, I've actually been trying to make more time for my hobbies. I've always enjoyed memory keeping and documenting our family life through scrapbooking. Up until the last few years it was all on paper, but since we move so often I've taken a greater interest in digital-scrapbooking. I also love to cook and enjoy making homemade meals for our family. My ideal night would be sharing a delicious dinner with family and friends, ... View Post
100 Days Project: Where Were You Born?
Day #2: Where Were You Born? I was born in Hawaii - specifically on the Big Island, in Kailua Kona, and lived there till I was 18. Most people associate Kona with either Kona Coffee or the Ironman Triathlon, but there is so much more to my beautiful island! And how many towns can boast that people have actually written a song about it? I must've been in middle school when Ho'aikane released this song about my beloved hometown and the tune will forever be engrained in my ... View Post
100 Days Project: What’s Your Name?
Day #1: What's Your Name? My name is Elana. Pronounced E-lana. Most people get it wrong and I've been called all kinds of names - mostly Alana, Ilana, even Lonna - c'mon Starbucks, really?! While my dad was serving in the Peace Corps they had a Spanish friend named Ilana, but after moving to Hawaii and learning they were expecting a baby girl, they wanted to change the spelling to a more Hawaiian-friendly pronunciation, and thus Elana was born...quite literally! Growing up, I ... View Post
