Around here I’ve been…
Reading…The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life by Hal Elrod. A few months ago I stumbled upon his idea of living a “Level 10 Life” and was intrigued!
Watching…Wonder and Coco. The family gave both movies 2 thumbs up.
Listening to...the Greatest Showman soundtrack…on repeat. The kids and I may or may not know all the songs.
Smelling…my Anthropologie Essential Oil Blend. Diffuse 2 drops White Fir, 3 drops Grapefruit, 1 drop Citrus Blend.
Celebrating…my son’s birthday this week. How is it that I have a kid in the double digits now?
Cooking…poke bowls every Friday after getting ahi tuna steaks from Fresh Market (my other recent obsession). I grew up in Hawaii and can’t believe I never made my own poke till now – it’s so easy! Here’s my recipe:
Marinate cubed ahi tuna for at least 20 minutes before serving with rice, seaweed salad, edamame, avocado or whatever toppings you have available.
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Chopped green onions
Pinning…lemonade stand ideas. Giving my kids a lesson in entrepreneurship this summer. They just finished writing a business plan and finding a charity to donate our profits to. Next we’re working on pricing while dad builds the actual lemonade stand!
Loving…our Christmas present to each other – a Tuft & Needle Mint mattress. Adulting much?
Disliking…having to start all over again, though I feel we’re slowly getting into a groove. The introvert in me can only take some much extroversion and trying to meet new people.
Trying…kickboxing. Muscles I never knew existed are so sore!
Discovering…our way around Columbus.
Enjoying…our little backyard area. I’ve got my gutter planter ready, filled with a homemade mix of succulent soil and over 50 little succulents (some propagated and some bought) waiting to be planted if only the weather would cooperate. I’m already dreaming of cafe lights, warm summer nights, grilling and outdoor movie nights with friends.
Feeling…content with our downsizing and longing for a more minimalist lifestyle. You know it’s bad when you’ve already purged a ton but still the movers ask, “you came from a much bigger house, huh?”
Hoping for…some warmer weather. But a little scared at what summer is going to be like around here. From what I hear, summer in the south is #1 humid and #2 there are so many bugs!
Thanking…my husband for his mad wood-working skills and how he goes along with all the crazy ideas I have. Since we’ve moved here he’s built an 8′ dining wood table, office shelves, 2 bathroom shelving units, a blanket ladder and a lemonade stand!
Considering…taking a wheel pottery class.
